Jan 12 2012 --- Eutrim has been launched as an entirely new weight loss product with patented clinically proven ingredients. The product is promoted as an exciting new product for adults (aged 18 and over) who are overweight and want some extra help to lose that weight – and to do it faster than dieting alone. Eutrim combines entirely natural ingredients, with no known side effects, together with a knowledge of science and nutrition. “This safe, natural formulation means that you don’t need a prescription and don’t have to buy it through a pharmacy,” according to the company.

Eutrim’s formulation is unique and the active ingredients it contains have been subjected to clinical trials which show each to be highly effective. Packed in easy-to-take, pre-measured sachet form, Eutrim can be taken with water or sprinkled over food, so can be taken anywhere. It’s also allergen free and suitable for vegetarians.

Eutrim works in complementary ways: it can help accelerate the amount of weight loss the consumer was expecting, when combined with a lower fat diet. “This is because it stops some of the fat you eat from being absorbed, so reducing the calories you derive from this source. It also makes you feel fuller for longer by promoting satiety (the feeling of fullness) and reducing appetite. And, by helping you help yourself, it helps you feel good and so improves your sense of well-being,” says Lindsey Bagley, who was behind the development of the product.

Eutrim uses a unique, patented form of vegetable chitosan derived from edible fungi (mushrooms). Underpinned by science and a special manufacturing process, this chitosan complexes with fat from food and transports it through your body without the fat being digested (and so absorbed by the body). This particular chitosan also has a much higher fat binding capacity than other chitosans and, because it’s rapidly soluble, it acts extremely quickly. It’s also completely non-digestible so it has absolutely no calories itself.

“The proteinase inhibitor in Eutrim helps you to eat less, so reducing calories and helping weight loss. This natural extract is designed to help you feel fuller for longer by promoting satiety – the feeling of fullness – and so reducing appetite. Scientific evidence has demonstrated that proteinase inhibitor II (PI2), the active component of this extract, safely promotes satiety, reduces hunger and thereby assists with weight management,” says Bagley.

Scientific Opinion on the substantiation of health claims related to chitosan and reduction in body weight (ID 679, 1499), pursuant to Article 13(1) of Regulation (EC) No 1924/2006 was affirmed on June 30th 2011. The affirmed effect for chitosan generically is “weight management”.

In accordance with the draft guidance document published by EFSA in May 2011 on the scientific requirements for health claims related to appetite ratings, weight management and blood glucose concentration, a submission has been made under the Article 13.5 of the Health Claims Regulation. “We are optimistic that EFSA will ultimately determine that there is sufficient evidence to establish a cause and effect relationship between the consumption of this specific potato extract and its benefits on satiety and weight management due to the quality of the science and clinical studies presented in the dossier. Health claims related to this component will be reviewed along with others related to botanicals which are currently scheduled during 2012,” Bagley concluded.
