Aug 5 2011 ---Demand has soared across the globe for IADSA’s global Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) guide with more than 600 copies downloaded from the IADSA website since its release in June.

Developed by a team of technical experts within IADSA, the ‘Global Guide to Good Manufacturing Practice for Supplements’ is the first of its kind, building on and taking into close consideration GMP guides that are in use across all continents of the globe.

Since its release it has been distributed across the world, and has seen hundreds of requests for copies coming in across the international sector, with the guide being downloaded on average 20 times per day.

It gives guidelines for the promotion of best practice in the production of supplements, including manufacturing, quality control, packaging, distribution and storage, and gives recommendations in areas critical to the manufacture of high quality products, including the recovery or re-working of materials, documentation, self-inspections, sub-contracting operations, laboratory testing, complaints procedures, product recall and emergency procedures.

“We are delighted that our guide has proved so popular,” said IADSA Chairman Peter Zambetti. “It has been developed for use by every supplement manufacturer, regardless of the size of the business and the wealth or poverty of the country. We have had high level input from the ASEAN region, Europe, Japan and the USA, and we hope that it will be a step towards achieving and maintaining a global set of GMP standards for food supplements.”
